Effect of Blunging/Dispersion Parameters on Separation of Halloysite Nanotubes from Gangue Minerals

Clay minerals need to be dispersed with blungers before their utilization in the related industries due plastic properties, and size reduction is carried out a wet medium. also contain impurities such as nonplastic materials structure. Mechanical dispersion parameters are important separation of clay group (halloysite kaolinite) from typical non-clayey gangue (quartz goethite). In this study, removal halloysite ore obtained Kızıldam, Turkey, was examined terms mechanical parameters, namely, feed size, blunging time speed, pulp concentration, temperature, aging process. The effect these on determined by particle chemical, mineralogical analysis, optical scanning electron microscope images. results studies dispersing distribution products indicated that optimum were −10 mm 8 h, 1000 rpm time, 35% concentration at 25 °C temperature. Under conditions, 72.3% amount −38 μm product containing 35.6% halloysite, 46.5% kaolinite, 12.0% quartz, 1.9% goethite, 0.9% gibbsite, 3.2% other ore, having 30.5% 43.4% 19.1% 2.9% 1.4% 2.7% minerals. it understood speed while temperature process had no significant Kızıldam halloysite. addition, quartz iron-bearing separated sieving.
